The Ontario government announced funding for swine and beef research at the University of Guelph’s Elora Research Station.
The Ontario Pork marketing board is adding $3.6 million to the province’s $14.4 million to finish building the $18-million swine research facility.
The federal and Ontario governments are giving $1.3 million to equip the Ontario Beef Research Centre with a digitized precision feeding system that tracks and adjusts the nutrition for individual cattle as needed.
That will help nutrition research that should save farmers money.
