The Young Speakers for Agriculture senior champion
this year is Erica Li from Toronto and the junior champion is Lucas Pham from
Toronto and Christopher Mills from Taber, Alberta, were the seniors category
runners up.
Maxwell Archer from Mount Pleasant, Ontario, and
Alyson Katerenchuk from St. Albert, Alberta, were the runners up in the juniors
category.
This year’s competition looked quite different
compared to past years. Competitors were invited to submit their
five-to-seven-minute speech as a video uploaded to the CYSA website. In
previous years the competition was held live during the Royal Agricultural
Winter Fair.
“After having to pause the competition in 2020,
the CYSA board was determined not to miss another year,” said CYSA president
April Stewart.
