New regulations for Animal Welfare Services Act

The province has posted its proposals for new regulations under the new Animal Welfare Services Act.

One change it to increase the time limit for filing an appeal from five to 10 days. An animal owner who objects to orders from an inspector has the right to appeal to a board.

Another change increases the ways in which an inspector can serve notice to an animal owner, including posting the notice on a vehicle or leaving it with a relative.

The comment period ends Aug. 21.
