Nineteen farm groups want port strike ended

 

Nineteen farm groups have written to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and four cabinet ministers calling for an end to the strike by workers at the ports of Vancouver and Prince Rupert, B.C.]


The letter says “We respectfully ask that the Government of Canada pursue all avenues within its authority to help bring the negotiations . . . to a rapid and successful conclusion. This includes strongly encouraging the two parties to enter into voluntary binding arbitration. “

The four cabinet ministers are Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Minister of International Trade Mary Ng.
