The Canadian Food Inspection Agency cancelled 40 organic licences in Ontario in the first three months of this year.
One was Ontario Pride Eggs Inc. of Kitchener which voluntarily withdrew on April 16.
Another was Champion Mushrooms of Gloucester which lost its licence on April 1.
Seldom Seen/Seldom Heard of Schomberg lost its licence on Feb. 22 and Broadgrain Commodities Inc. of Seaforth, also on Feb. 22.
Highbury Canco Corp. of Leamington, Canada’s largest tomato-processing company, lost its licence on Feb. 12.
Dole Foods of Canada Company Inc. lost its licence on Jan. 8.
Lakeside Produce Inc. of Leamington lost its licence on Jan. 2.
ACO Certification Ltd. had its licence to accredit organic operations cancelled.
