Cargill is laying off 8,000 employees, Bunge has delayed its takeover of Viterra until early next year and Archer-Daniel-Midlands (ADM) reported lower earnings after discovering “accounting irregularities,” reports the Globe and Mail.
Cargill’s layoffs reduce its workforce by five per cent.
It is re-organizing from five business units to three.
Its 2024 fiscal year revenues declined to $160 billion compared with $177 billion the previous year.
Bunge’s takeover of Viterra has been delayed while it responded to competition regulators in Canada and China.
