He became famous throughout the Waterloo Region and beyond
for marketing tasty fresh sweet corn from a roadside stand on Erb Street West.
He encouraged others in the business, including support when
the Mennonite Produce Auction was starting north of Waterloo and by carrying items
from many local families such as jams and jellies and baked goods in the store.
He liked to work in his woodlot cutting and splitting
firewood and crafting wooden furniture in his workshop.
His wife, Elsie, and his children continue to carry on the
family business.
I have personal fond memories of this quiet-spoken, kind man who was one of my 4-H club leaders.
