Vet drug fraudster faces prison

The chief executive of Action Packaging and Design of California could get up to 10 years in prison after entering a guilty plea to charges of counterfeiting labels for veterinary drugs.

Paul Rodriguez was the chief executive of the company between July, 2015, and December, 2016, when the counterfeiting took place.

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, "he intentionally trafficked in counterfeit labels and packaging by manufacturing” products trademarked as Frontline, Frontline Plus and Merial. He then shipped them to Houston, Texas.

Rodriguez also intentionally trafficked in counterfeit trademarked Rimadyl labels – a Zoetis product.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 2. He could not only get prison time, but also a fine of up to $2 million.
