Mastronardi buys U.S. tomato grower

Mastronardi Produce Ltd. of Kingsville has purchased Backyard Farms of Madison, Maine, the largest greenhouse tomato grower in the New England region.

Backyard has two greenhouses totaling about 20 hectares.

Terms of the purchase are being kept private.

Mastronardi said greenhouse operations at Backyard Farms will continue uninterrupted.

Mastronardi now has six locations across North America marketing produce under the SUNSET brand.

I have never heard anyone utter a complimentary word about Mastronardi.
