The Ontario government is caving in to angry opposition to
its plans to close scores of rural schools.
Education Minister Mitzie Hunter said Tuesday the
policy that led to school closures will be overhauled.
She also announced $20 million to support schools in
rural and northern Ontario.
"We understand that the decisions to
close schools are some of the most difficult we have to make," she
said.
But the school-board decisions for closures that have
already been made will not change.
