Pilgrim’s Pride pays $29 million for wage-fixing

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. will pay $29 million to settle its part of a wage-fixing lawsuit.

Pilgrim’s is owned by JBS, the world’s largest meat-packing company.

The lawsuit claims that Perdue Farms, Tyson Foods, Koch Foods and other processors conspired to depress wages for hundreds of thousands of workers over a decade.

It says that the processors formed, implemented, monitored and enforced a conspiracy through clandestine meetings where they allegedly swapped wage information and set up a wage-fixing plan.

Approval of the agreement by federal Judge Stephanie Gallagher will settle all claims against Pilgrim's in the class action case.

This is horrible. It's some of the richest people oppressing some of the poorest and hardest-working people.
