Maple Leaf sales up eight per cent


 

Maple Leaf reported a sales increase of eight per cent for its third quarter and profits of $43.1 million compared with $17.7 million for the same quarter last year.


Sales in the poultry division, which features a new processing plant at London, were up by 15.7 per cent and pork sales up by 10.4 per cent.


The prepared foods division sales, which included the company’s plant protein business, were up by 4.4 per cent.


The company also completed the spinoff of Canada Packers, which is now its hog production and pork packing business.
