Poultry processor fined

A M Wholesale Meats of Mississauga has been fined $50,000 after a worker was struck by a falling pallet in the company loading area.

The company pleaded guilty to the charge laid by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Training.


There was also a 25 per cent victim surcharge added, bringing the total to $62,500.


As part of the settlement, the company has implemented daily equipment inspections, provided additional health and safety training and hired a dedicated health, safety and quality assurance employee.
