Warm fall weather made crops

Ontario corn and soybean crops were saved from major disappointment by warm fall weather.

Agricorp reports corn fields yielded an average of 184 bushels per acre and soybeans 44.

The corn yield is better than expected and the soybean yield is consistent with the 10-year average.

There were, of course, major variations among regions and soil types across the province.

Agricorp figures about 75 per cent of Ontario’s corn and soybean acreage is covered by crop insurance contracts.
