Hunger could be ended

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says hunger could be eliminated, given the amount of food available in the world.

Yet 815 million people suffer from hunger.

On the other hand, 1.9 billion people are overweight.

Yet achieving a world with zero hunger by 2030 is not only possible, it is the theme of this year’s FAO World Food Day, celebrated annually on Oct. 16.

Many of the hungry people now are living in war zones.

In that vein comes a warning that up to two million people could starve because of the war in Yemen where fighters on one side are supported by Iran and on the other by Saudi Arabia.
