Vomitoxin alert raised for corn



Grain Farmers of Ontario is strongly recommending that producers test their corn for vomitoxin and segregate any that has a problematic amount.

It also strongly recommends that corn be tested before delivery for an indication of quality.

Ensure the sample is representative of the field or the bin,” the GFO said. 

“Independent testing opportunities for vomitoxin are available through the joint venture with SGS Canada and the Grains Analytical Testing Laboratory. 

“This opportunity may assist in buyer/seller disputes; however, it should be noted again that this is an indication of quality and is not binding.”
