Cronins join Alliance Genetics

Mike and Amy Cronin of Cronin Family Farms are joining Alliance Genetics Canada.

After a barn fire, they have built a 1,500-sow barn in Norfolk County that will serve as a purebred genetic nucleus for Vista Villa Genetics which is also a member of Alliance Genetics Canada.

Bodmin Genetics, BMR Genetics and Clarion Swine in Ontario, and Sandridge Genetics in Alberta at the other members.

Vista Villa has been hit by both a barn fire and an outbreak of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS).

The Cronins manage 6,500 sows on farms in Ontario, Iowa and Missouri.

Amy Cronind has served as chair of the Ontario Pork marketing board and chair of Swine Health of Ontario.
