Listeria test developed in Portugal

A team of Portuguese researchers has developed a new and accurate test for Listeria.

It can specify the type of Listeria using a relatively small sample.

It has been validated on a range of foods, such as ground beef and pork, lettuce, milk and cooked shrimp.

The researchers report that they can test for Listeria with “100 per cent specificity”.
