Advance payments boosted

Advance payments for crops have been boosted to 100 per cent eligible as soon as applications are approved.

The past practice has been to release 60 per cent before planting and the balance when planting has been completed.

Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said the temporary change is being made because input costs have soared and grain demand has increased because of Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine.
