The federal government is granting $275,000 to the Chicken
Farmers of Saskatchewan marketing board to pursue research to develop a vaccine
for a chicken virus.
The hope is that a vaccine can be developed and
commercialized.
The project aims to identify and characterize new
variants of the avian reovirus and determine how they are transmitted.
It also aims to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of
vaccines for inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) in field trials.
So are Canada's supply-management marketing boards really standing on their own without any government subsidies. I seems the truth is somewhat different from the public relations spin.
