JBS USA and the union representing 3,000
workers at its beef plant in Greeley, Colo., have reached a tentative five-year
agreement.
If the union members vote acceptance, they will
get a pay increase of $1.90 an hour, health insurance, funeral and bereavement
leave and vacation scheduling based on seniority.
The United Food and Commercial Workers Union
and the company have been negotiating for 11 months.
The deal could set a pattern for the North
American meat-packing industry.
JBS USA owns Canada’s second-largest
beef-packing plant at Brooks, Alta.
