Twenty-one companies and 33 people in the German sausage
business have been fined about $493 million for price fixing.
The scandal goes back to 2002, said authorities who waited
until news media attention to the World Cup soccer victory to make their
announcement so it would gain prominent public attention.
Bell Ltd., which was fined $100 million, said it intends to
fight its fine.
In February, German authorities fined three large sugar
companies about $380 million for price fixing, market sharing and running a
quota system.
I wish we could get these German authorities on the case of Ontario's egg-grading companies.
