The MOU was signed this week at the FDA
Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition campus in College Park, Maryland.
The agreement further eases the sharing of
information on matters such as development of research methods and needs,
genomic sequence data, chemical and microbiological risk profiles, method
validation data and newly developed methods.
Fostering increased collaboration with
countries outside our borders will allow scientists within the CFIA and across
Canada to access greater food safety information and data, bolstering
innovation and advancing research which will ultimately help lead to a better
quality of life for all Canadians, the CFIA says on its website.
It's a good thing this was not part of the NAFTA negotiations!
