Lawyers for Mary Jean McFall, chief of staff for federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay and daughter of Joe Hudson, owner of Canada's largest egg-industry empire, are due to appear in the Ontario Court of Appeal to defend her against perjury charges.
The charges stem from when she was acting as lawyer for her father and his businesses, including Burnbrae Farms Ltd. of Lyn, Ontario.
Hudson had signed a confidentiality agreement when he was in negotiations to purchase Best Choice Eggs, an egg-grading business owned by Svante Lind of Blackstock, Ont.
There is documented evidence, however, that the information was shared with Bill Gray of L.H. Gary and Sons Ltd., now better known as Grayridge Eggs.
It is that documented evidence that prompted Stewart Jackson to file perjury charges.
So far courts have ruled in McFall's favour.
The appeal is scheduled for Oct. 18 in Toronto.
