U.S. to seek greater access for dairy and poultry

The United States will be laying its agriculture cards on the table when the negotiators meet for the next round of talks to revamp the North American Free Trade Agreement.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Purdue said they will include asking for greater access to the Canadian poultry and dairy markets.

It's the first time that greater access to poultry markets has been mentioned by Trump administration officials.

There has been a lot said about dairy, all of it guaranteed to raise anxiety levels for Canada's dairy farmers.

Hinting that the first three rounds of talks didn’t accomplish much, Perdue is quoted as saying the administration now will, "lay some things on the table in this next round ... over some serious issues.”
