Recall for cyanide poisoning risk

Ecoideas Innovations Inc. is recalling its apricot seeds and meal because there is a risk of cyanide poisoning.

The company identified the risk and initiated the nation-wide recall which is being overseen by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The toxin is a natural ingredient of apricots.

Symptoms of acute exposure to high levels of cyanide may include headache, dizziness, mental confusion, weakness, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, seizures and coma.

There have been no reported illnesses, said the CFIA.
