New trade deal to be signed today

Mexico, the United States and Canada are set to sign a new trade deal today.

Christia Freeland, deputy prime minister who is also in charge of finishing touches to the trade deal, is in Mexico for the signing.

Also attending are Robert Lighthizer, the United States Trade Representative, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The new deal is likely to gain rapid approval in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and will probably be followed closely by House of Commons approval in Canada.
