Dairy Crest cheese maker guilty

Dairy Crest cheese company in Nova Scotia has pleaded guilty to multiple river pollution charges and will be sentenced in May.

The pollution problems first drew inspectors’ condemnations in 2016, but continued, killing fish and bothering nearby residents with odours.

It’s the company’s Davistow Creamery in Cornwall that violated provincial standards.

Dairy Crest, now owned by Saputo, pleaded guilty to 21 charges dating back to 2016.
