Dairy processor donates $100,000

Vitalus Nutrition Inc. of Abbotsford, B.C., has donated $100,000 to help dairy farmers recover from flooding.

The milk-processing company gave the money to the B.C. Dairy Association Flood Relief Fund.

Vitalus is also dedicating the annual fundraising efforts by its 104 employees during the Month of Giving to dairy farmers flood relief and matching employee contributions dollar for dollar.

As well, the company is supporting employees who are volunteering their time to assist in the rebuilding effort.

“We have strong roots in the community and some of our own employees have been directly impacted by the catastrophic flooding and evacuations,” said Vitalus president and chief executive officer Philip Vanderpol.

“We want to support the dairy farmers who are our valued suppliers.”

Ontario people are also offering flood relief. For example, members of Community Christian Reformed Church in Kitchener donated $8,000 to help flood-stricken households within the flooded Sumas Prairie.
