Bothwell shredded cheeses recalled

Bothwell Cheese Inc. of Bothwell, Man., is recalling five of its shredded cheeses because they might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning that “consumers should not consume and distributors, retailers and food service establishments such hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes should not sell or use the recalled products . . .”

They are White Cheddar Shred, Old Cheddar Shred, Mild Shred, Old Shred and Mozarella Blend Shredded Cheese.

The CFIA says the cheeses have been sold in Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Bothwell Cheese is Canada's largest independently owned cheese maker, known for its award-winning cheeses which are branded under the same name, says Wikipedia.

Farmers founded it as a cooperative in 1936 and sold it in 2002 to a group of private investors.
