CFIA suspends egg-company licence

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has put S&D Clouston Farms of St. Andrews, Manitoba, out of business until it cleans up and meets regulatory standards.

The CFIA says the company “has failed to correct deficiencies previously identified through CFIA inspections” but doesn’t identify what those deficiencies are in its information posted on its website.

It must be really, really bad because information I have garnered via Access to Information indicates that one of the biggest egg companies in Canada controlled by the Joe Hudson family of Lyn, Ont., had persistent deficiencies at its Maple Lynn facility in Toronto, but continued operating without a hitch.
