Carm Hamilton honoured by 4-H

Carm Hamilton has been chosen for an honorary membership in 4-H Canada.

He was responsible for the 4-H program when he worked for the Ontario agriculture department and was a champion for rural communities.

He was awarded a Canadian Centennial Medal in 1967 and the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.

I have fond memories of him when I was a 4-H club member in the Waterloo Region.

Kim McConnell of Alberta will also be awarded an honorary membership during a ceremony at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on Feb. 10.

He worked for AdFarm, for the Canadian 4-H Foundation and was a director for 4-H Canada. He was a 4-H Beef Club leader at Hamiota, Manitoba, the longest continually active 4-H club in Canada.
