China, U.S., poised to sign trade deal

The United States and China are poised to sign a limited trade deal on Jan. 15.

No details have been made public, but there have been news media reports that the Chinese will commit to buy about $200 billion worth of agricultural products and that the U.S. will shelve its proposed tariff increases.

U.S. President Donald Trump has also said progress has been achieved on issues such as intellectual property rights and investments.

Given Trump's track record, it could be much ado about nothing.

No texts for an agreement have been released.
