Canada lifts ban on beef, pork from Brazil

Canada has lifted its ban on beef and pork from Brazil, a ban that began three years ago over concerns about foot and mouth disease outbreaks in Brazil.

Brazil’s Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina Dias tweeted the news to Reuters news agency after she met with officials of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in Ottawa Monday.

She is also here to speak to Nutrien about fertilizer supplies.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed to Reuters that it "approved the import of raw and cooked poultry meat, pork and pH matured beef from Brazil."
