Maple Leaf wins food safety awar

Maple Leaf Foods new meat-processing plant at Hamilton has been named Site of the Year for the Americas by Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards.

The plant was built seven years ago to consolidate operations from a number of older and smaller plants including Schneider’s in Kitchener.

“As new food safety risks emerge, so do the methodologies to ensure its safety. We know more now about how to produce safe, healthy food than ever before,”said Spir Marinakis, vice present of food safety and quality assurance.

Maple Leaf is now close to opening another new plant that consolidates operations from smaller and older facilities. It’s at London and is for slaughtering and processing chickens.
