Lactalis opens ersatz milk plant in Sudbury

Lactalis Canada held an opening ceremony recently for its repurposed plant in Sudbury which will now produce plant-based milk alternative products under the Enjoy brand name.

Established in 1962, the Sudbury facility was a fully operational milk processing plant for six decades.

In 2022, Lactalis Canada began converting the site into a 33,150-square-foot plant-based facility. It is now Lactalis Canada’s first dedicated plant-based facility.

The reopening ceremony included an employee celebration, tree planting and remarks from Lactalis Canada president and chief executive officer Mark Taylor and government and community partners.

The province provided $1.4 million towards the project.
