The federal and Ontario governments announced $23.55 million for research at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.
The centre has been an important contributor to the emergence of a major produce industry where there were previously tobacco farms.
The broader area now is an important supplier of fresh vegetables and berries for Ontario.
