Avian influenza has shown
up in Kansas, prompting the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to ban all poultry
from that state.
That extends bans already
in place for poultry from Arkansas, Missouri and Minnesota, all hit by recent
outbreaks, and parts of Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California hit earlier by
avian influenza.
British Columbia was hit
hard in December, eventually wiping out 11 commercial operations.
Forty countries have
banned poultry from the U.S. and the situation is similar for Canada.
