The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario is telegraphing its
response to proposals for a 50-km highway from Newmarket to Milton by
highlighting the loss of prime farm land.
Its weekly website posting is headlined “Loss of Farmland to a New Transit Route”.
The transit corridor – it is for both public transit and cars
and trucks - will “carve its way through good farm land in the greenbelt just south
of the Niagara Escarpment,” the CFFO says.
