The
Canadian Food Inspection Agency says 996660 Ontario Ltd. is recalling
Monticello brand Cooked Ham produced in Italy. It might be contaminated with
Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
The CFIA does
not reveal the company name for the numbered company, but the ham has been
distributed across Ontario and Quebec.
“Consumers
should not consume and retailers, restaurants and institutions should not to
sell or use” Prosciuto or cooked ham with a best before date of May 20, the
CFIA says.
Most is
sold at deli bars. It is sold in packaging without a universal product code
(UPC).
The recall
applies to ham “starting on November 13, 2014,” the CFIA says.
“Consumers
who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to
contact their retailer,” the CFIA says.
It says
there have been no reported illnesses associated with these products.
