Joseph Dickenson, a beef farmer from Oil Springs, has been appointed
to a two-year term as a member of the Ontario Farm Products Marketing
Commission.
He has previously served as the provincial president of the Junior
Farmers' Association of Ontario, the Ontario/Quebec representative for three
years on the Canadian Young Farmers' Forum and two three-year terms as director
at Llarge for the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the
University of Guelph.
The commission, which is chaired by former OFA president Geri Kamenz,
oversees marketing boards and reports to the Ontario Minister of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs.
Three members’ terms expire this year – Thomas Richardson of Ottawa
this month, Deborah Whale of Alma in June and Valerie Hobbs in December. There
are eight members.
