It’s the 79th outbreak in the province since the
disease first turned up here in January, 2014.
It’s also the first case since March 23 and only the 10th
case this year, much fewer than a year ago.
The virus can survive for long periods during cold weather,
but not in higher temperatures, so the return of warmer weather is reducing the
risk that it will spread.
The industry is, however, encouraged to remain on tight
biosecurity.
