Kentucky becomes the 14th
U.S. state to confirm the presence of the disease that is deadly for commercial
poultry flocks.
This discovery is under the Mississippi
flyway.
There were outbreaks along the West
coast flyway around Christmas time last year, including 11 commercial flocks in
British Columbia.
This year there have been scores of
outbreaks under the Mississippi flyway, claiming millions of birds, especially
in Minnesota and Iowa.
There have been three outbreaks in
Oxford County, Ontario, claiming about 25,000 chickens and 50,000 turkeys.
