Chicken deal text approved

The new national chicken allocation deal negotiated and put into operation this year finally has an approved text.

The wording of the Operating Agreement was passed by the board of directors of Chicken Farmers of Canada last week.

But it’s far from a done deal.

It now needs signatures from every provincial chicken marketing board, every provincial government-appointed supervisory board and the national council.

It is also facing appeals by processors in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; they don’t like Ontario gaining a larger share of market growth than they will be granted.
