Jones Feed Mills is beginning a $27-million addition at its main mill in Linwood.
It will be dedicated to milling bulk feeds, freeing facilities for additional production of specialty feeds, custom blends and bagged feeds.
The company also has mills at Heidelberg, where there is a retail outlet for pet food and feed, at Wroxeter and Mitchell.
The family business was begun in 1930 by Ernest and Alice Jones, passed to George and Jean Jones and is now run by the third generation, Jeff and Julie Jones.
The addition will have a leg that will rise 83 metres and will include space for distribution and storage. It is due to begin production late next year.
The company will add about 10 employees to its roster of about 140.
The company operates in the midst of one of the most competitive feed-milling regions in North America.
Among those competitors are Wallenstein Feed and Seed, Floradale Feed Mill, W-S Feed and Supply and Grand Valley Fortifiers.
