Saudis may buy Canadian wheat, barley

With the restoration of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia, there are hopes that it will resume buying Canadian wheat and barley.

It bought significant quantities of feed barley before Saudi Arabia broke off diplomatic relations two years ago over a Canadian tweet about women’s rights.

Saudi Arabia is the world’s second-largest importer of barley after China.

It also recently gave up on a plan to grow wheat with irrigation. It proved more expensive than importing wheat.
