Chicken Farmers of Canada has set a target of five per cent growth for the quota period that runs from July 27 to Sept. 30.
The increase comes after a long period of relatively minor increases.
The agency said “demand for chicken continues to be strong. This is supported by competing meat prices, population growth, steady per capita consumption and overall positive economic indicators. “
Ontario’s target is a 5.3 per cent increase in production.
