Egg problems revealed and hidden

There have been illegal chemical residues in eggs, according to documents revealed from an Access to Information application for Canadian Food Inspection Agency records.

But huge swaths of the documents have been censored because GrayRidge objected to them being revealed.

The uncensored documents indicate that more than once the Canadian Food Inspection Agency found cocccidiostats in its retail-ready prroducts.

A test of Burnbrae eggs also found illegal residues of coccidiostats.

Cocciosfars are used to control coccidiosis which is a gut infection of parasites

Although the access request asked for all violations of CFIA  standards last year, none of the released information cited failures to meet Grade A standards for fresh eggs marketed by GrayRidge and Burnbrae, Canada’s two largest ett-producing, egg-gradiing and egg-processiing companies.

In previous access requests there were revelations of multiple failures to meet Grade A standards for fresh eggs, most of them related to cracks and/or dirty eggs.
