Quebec farmers dumping milk

A strike by 250 workers at the Agropur plant at Granby, Que., has resulted in dairy farmers dumping about two million litres of milk so far.

Only some have been able to ship to plants in Ontario. Others have no processing plant to take their milk.

The Agropur plant processes about 10 per cent of Quebec’s milk production and has been shut down since June 29.

Agropur is the second-largest dairy processing company in Canada and is a co-operative owned by dairy farmers.
