JBS buys another meat company

JBS USA has a made a deal to buy Primrose USA from Danish Crown A/S for $230 million.

Plumrose makes and markets bacon, hams, sliced deli meats and cooked ribs, sold under well-known brands.

The deal covers five prepared foods plants – one in Elkhart, Ind., two in Council Bluffs, Iowa, one in Booneville, Miss., and one in Swanton, Vt., and distribution centers in South Bend, Ind., and Tupelo, Miss.

Primose has sales of about $500 million per year.
